What is Dahlco?
Dahlco is a family owned and operated regional seed company, serving farmers in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Dahlco stands for Dahlman-Company, which was named after our Grandfather, Albin Dahlman, who started the company in 1922.
A Family Tradition
Albin sold the company to his son, Stanley, in 1951. In 1988, our Dad, Stanley, sold it to me and my two brothers, Craig and Duane. The three of us are here everyday. My brother Duane is in charge of processing operations. My brother Craig works in seed production and maintenance. And I'm the general manager, handling sales and marketing. All three of us help out with seed production.

Dahlco works with the best technology suppliers in the business to insure the flow of the best genetics with the latest technologies to our customers. We are not a cheap seed company, selling off old genetics or old inventory. We sell the best seed for less, simply because we can. We start with the best genetics on the market, raise and condition most of the seed ourselves, and then market it directly to our customers.

A Changing Business
In the hands of the big chemical owned seed companies, seed has become a vehicle to deliver chemicals to the farmer. Dahlco is independent. We make decisions based on what is right for our customers, which currently includes a vast lineup of products and technologies with a wide variety of traits. Most of these new technologies are great and add value to our products, but there is still a place for conventional seed and a place for independent seed companies like Dahlco.
